The hail you say!

We had a bit of rain last week along with a surprise. Mr. Fix-it took pictures for me since I was at work and missed it.

My idea of snow

The photo was more effective before the rain and wind blew away most of the petals.

After a week of downpours, flooded streets, and downed trees, this was a spirit-lifting sight.

Rain, rain

don't go away! I was so happy to see that it was sprinkling this morning and then that turned into full-fledged rain...for about a half hour. Now it is barely sprinkling and humid as heck. If I'm gonna see gray skies, I want rain! My garden is barely damp and where the foliage is heavy, the ground is dry. Grrrrr. I was hoping to skip my mid week watering this week, but this tease of rain won't allow that.

Turn on the air conditioning!

The weekend started in the 70s and by yesterday, it was in the 90s! We don't have air conditioning (we don't need it says Mr. Fix-it), but if I had a spare 10K, I'd be putting it in. Of course, the hi temps meant I was freezing in the office and wore a sweater all day.

A bit of hope that the storm is over (it rained again that night).

Rainmaker

Yep, you can blame me for the rain. I watered one of the vegetable beds yesterday, forgot and left the water on all night (but it was set to a trickle so I really didn't waste too much water), and then watered the rest of the yard this morning. Now it's pouring. Surprise! Ahh, the first rain of the season and it smells wonderful!

I'm all shook up!

Sang in my best Elvis voice! It was a big one today, 5 point something, with coworkers diving under their desks. Me? I just squeaked a bit when a few things fell over in my coworkers cubicles. I just had a beanie baby fall off my monitor, nothing else out of place.

As soon as the earthquake hit, people were calling home on their cell phones. Of course, service was disrupted and spotty. I couldn't get a hold of Mr. Fix-it for about half an hour. My cell kept dropping the calls. Normally, I wouldn't be too worried, but I knew he was doing some wooodworking today so I wanted to check in with him. It was a relief to finally talk to him. So we're fine. Hopefully, it relieved a lot of pressure and put off the really big one for a few more years.

It's raining, it's pouring

Boy, is it pouring. I definitely won't need to water the garden this week. I was getting ready to put away some of my winter clothes (which just means moving them to another part of the clost) and now I'm glad I didn't.
